Doug Ford loves to brag he's never raised your taxes. The truth? He's been quietly downloading provincial costs onto your municipal property tax bill for years.
We need municipal leaders willing to stand up, call out this unfair practice, and fight for a better deal for our city. I'll work to reverse the downloading and bring those dollars back home, so our budget goes to our neighbourhoods instead of covering the province's bills.
Everyone deserves a place they can afford to call home. I'll push for non-market, permanently affordable housing - the kind of homes that bring costs down and keep them down. That's how we give everyone a real shot at building a life in the neighborhoods they love.
We also have to meet homelessness with compassion that works. That means housing-first: getting people into stable homes, then surrounding them with the supports they need to get moving in the right direction.
Real solutions to the housing crisis
Our downtown should be the beating heart of a growing city - and we're at a turning point. With a new GO station and rapid transit on the horizon, we have a once-in-a-generation chance to build the city we deserve. We can't waste it.
That means more people living downtown in gentle density, more ways to get around, and streets built for walking and for shopping local. It also means bringing people together: I'll champion great events that draw crowds downtown, fill our streets with energy, and support the small businesses that make this place special.
