I'm Jack O'Donnell, and I'm running for Regional and City Council in Ward 4 because Oshawa is my home. I’ve got deep roots here, and I want this city to be great. We don’t have to be just another bedroom community for Toronto. We can build a vibrant city with an identity of its own and a future worth staying for.

I grew up right here in Ward 4: playing baseball at Woodview Park, learning to swim at the Eastview Boys and Girls Club, borrowing CDs from the McLaughlin Public Library. As a student, I spent summers on the GM assembly line - the same work my parents and grandparents built their lives around. These places have been with me my whole life, and they're a big part of why I love this city the way I do.

That love carried into my career. I spent five years as a Constituency Assistant to the MPP for Oshawa, where I was the person residents turned to when they needed someone in their corner on housing, health care, or hydro bills. I listened, advocated, and fought to solve real problems for my neighbours - and I saw how government is failing people in Oshawa.

Since then, I've worked at Queen's Park as a Legislative Assistant, a press secretary to 16 MPPs, and most recently coordinating parliamentary strategy for Ontario's Official Opposition. I know how government works - and how to hold it accountable. I've stayed rooted here too, serving on the boards of the Canadian Automotive Museum, the Durham Unemployed Help Centre, and Heritage Oshawa.

I'm not running because I'm passing through. I'm running because I'm staying - and I intend to spend the years ahead building a city where everyone feels safe, welcome, and proud to call Oshawa home.
